Now That We’ve Won the Battle…

The Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Act (final version) is now on the Governor’s desk. Our next goal is to create an accountability tool for every school in Georgia. Initially, we will be compiling parent responses from across the state and sorting results on a county by county basis. Because of the wide array of services public schools offer, the majority of our children will probably continue to be educated in public schools. This law will allow each of us to choose the public or private school which is most likely to meet our child’s needs regardless of district boundary lines.

The Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Act is as much about accountability as it is choice. Schools that fail to measure up will lose their special students and associated state & federal funds. By sharing your comments about your own experiences, you can help our schools stay focused on educating our special needs children while giving parents an opportunity to help other families by sharing about their own experiences.
